When we woke up and looked through the skylight, all we could see was an army of mosquitos on the underside of the fly waiting for us to exit. They were even just chilling on the screen of the door waiting for us. Packing up required our bug hoods for the first time. Luckily we found refuge in the laundry room where we ate breakfast and picked up our well overdue laundry.
Our random lunchstop in Falcon Bay turned out to be, not only mosquito free, but absolutely beautiful. We stopped at the “Falcon’s Nest” (that was the name of the old restaurant at the Quadra gas station about 20 years ago wasn’t it?) for frozen yoghurt and iced cappuccinos
We finally reached the border at the halfway mark of our day and were kind of disappointed with the border sign.
Until we rode another 200m and discovered the real sign.
Our arrival into Ontario was the most dramatic proof that highways are under provincial control. Exhibit A:
Kenora, muskie fishing capital of the world, is situated on Lake of the Woods and is pretty neat.
Real Estate agents offer waterfront property, lots and private islands.
The local Safeway is probably one of the only grocery stores that offers moorage.
