Day 57: Sault St Marie Day Off

km today: 0
total km: same as before

Strangely more attractive in film than in real life. By the way, this is a water tower (not the world's largest button mushroom as Brandon humorously suggested).

We are both feeling very uncreative at the moment. Nothing funny or witty is coming to our minds.... We just stared for about 2 min at those two sentances. We had a fun day, we can tell you that. Brandon thinks that there are too many "we's" in those last few sentances.

Here we go....brace yourselves...

We intended to get going on our errands right away in the morning, but caught up in the bike community. We ended up talking, laughing and just milling about in Velorution for hours. Picture this: an espresso machine pumping out free shots and a group of random and unique characters mingling like old friends. Characters ranging from highschool bike mechanics/bmx maniacs to french imports to a 76-year-old die-hard cyclist. John, the 76-year-old, took first trip across Canada in the 50's on his homemade bike. He was also a bit of an encyclopedia on the subject of touring. His best advise was that the first tent is red, the second yellow and the third green. "Why," he asked? (we were of course stumped). "Because an experienced cyclist knows to buy a green tent which is easily camoflauged, allowing for stealth camping." His other great tip was that cemetaries are always well manacured, have a sources of water and are virtually empty making them ideal locations for stealth camping (especially if you have a green tent).

After a hot day of errands we sat for couple beers with Andy (an english bloke complete with the dry english wit, who started his trip across Canada four days after its conception) and John (Joan graciously declined). It was the perfect way to finish off the day and our stay in "the Soo."
