Day 70: Toronto - Hamilton

We were warned of Toronto traffic jams during rush hours. Thus, we strategically slept in and left at an hour (11:00 am) that we felt would avoid this conflict. We were duped. Some teenager decided to rear end someone and add an hour onto our 150km-ish journey. Grid lock

When we finally reached the falls, we were blown away. And we hadn’t even seen the falls yet. Niagara Falls is like a little Las Vegas, with lights, and, and casinos, and amusement parks everywhere. It does a fine job of removing most of the natural majesty that the falls themselves impart.

Instead of heading back to Toronto, our destination was Hamilton, specifically to 197 George Street. Home to Sarah Cotton, a friend of the Pirie boys whom they met while traveling through Vietnam. We were en route to meet Sarah at her house, when the 403 duped us. We pulled onto the exit ramp and into a gridlocked highway just as we received a call from Sarah telling us that she would be late due to traffic. After a few words of exchange, we realized that Sarah was four cars in front of us and cursing at the same traffic jam. Our timing was pretty good, considering that Hamilton has a population of over 500,000 and Sarah was coming the opposite direction from Mississauga.Sarah, leading us into "the Hammer"

Chef Sarah (she’s really in marketing) treated us to a fine bbq dinner and fine entertainment, provided by her, her crazy dogs and, eventually, by her equally crazy husband Craig (crazy in the best way). It was a fine night.
