Day 80: Ottawa Sightseeing

On our way downtown we ran into this important intersection.

We had planned on hitting up a few of the museums and cruising around the downtown core. Unbeknownst to us though was the fact that the National Art Gallery (our first stop) is colossal. After spending 3 hours viewing the Renoir exhibit (which was phenomenal by the way) we thought that we were almost finished with the building. A viewing of the map though showed us that we had only seen one tiny section of the first of two floors. The canadian, contemporary, inuit and modern photography exhibits were, let’s just say, a bit rushed. Though we did enjoy the 100 plus year old paintings depicting areas we’ve already visited. Such as the then unspoiled Niagara Falls and the relatively small and pristine Hamilton.

By the time we actually left, it was already time for dinner. Seeing as how we hadn’t planned on taking so long, we’d missed lunch and were starving. We knew that only a buffet would do. Randomly, we found a pretty decent one with 15 islands of food that didn’t leave you reaching for the Peptol Bismol.
