Day 84: Montreal Sightseeing

Montreal is actually known for its graffiti artists.

We started the day off with our continental breakfast which we will be exploiting for our lunch tomorrow, and maybe even dinner as well. Set with a kraft peanut butter breakfast of champions we were off to explore old Montreal. It was absolutely gorgeous. It was so easy to imagine 17th century lords and ladies walking the narrow cobblestone streets.

Katie liked the mise en place so much that she had to recreate it herself.

After all the walking we were quite hungry, and hankering for a truly Montreal style lunch. Not willing to settle for any of the many 2 for 1 Greek places (7.50 per person was tempting, but greek hardly screams Montreal) we hunted for ages until we found the clearly bonified Montreal establishment “Frites Alors.” Ordering the poutine was an obligation we had to fulfill. A jerk bison burger, a hamburger bucannier and two bottles of Montreal beer completed our perfect lunch.

From there we got down to business convincing any blog followers that we are not in Toronto, but have, have in fact been in a different province entirely for days now. You don’t get much wireless internet in the cemeteries.

Hours later we were finally ready to take a break and grab some grub. Our research regarding cheap Montreal eats led us to break our traditional Montreal dine out streak. Boutan was actually Lebanese, but with delicious 2.75 pita sandwhiches it was worth breaking the rules. It will be tough to leave this place tomorrow morning. We are definitely excited to spend our winter here.
