Day 89: Quebec Sightseeing Day 2

There was far too much to see, do and absorb in one day, hence, another day was warranted. It was a perfect, leisurely day. We enjoyed another breakfast with Christiane while Roger slept in (he had been up very late on the computer managing Warm Showers) and then headed back downtown.

A shortcut.

Did we mention Quebec is touristy?

There are several very realistic wall paintings scattered throughout the city.

Not having windows meant that you didn't have to pay window tax.

This is a recreation of Canada's early days when early colonial farmers would don their favourite 16th century costumes and commence hoe-down duels against the Native Americans who apparently wielded a mean harp (we gave a pass on their album).

Before enjoying the sights of Quebec we headed to the public library which, by the way, has a fountain in middle of it and almost, as you’ve noticed, completely updated the blog. Our growling stomachs objected to our completely finishing though, and we headed off for lunch on the waterfront. After lunch, we lost ourselves in the city for a few hours before heading back for dinner, on time, may we add.

The four of us enjoyed each others company during appetizers, dinner, dessert
(which was a special dessert just for us cross Canada tourers)

and for many hours after that. It wasn’t until the discotheque music from the party next door became too much to bear that we relocated to the living room where Roger drowned them out with his own music selections. He’s an astute DJ, switching records flawlessly at the end of every song, moving from jazz to classical to rock, quizzing us at random intervals and always managing to stump us with his keen musical knowledge.

The night went on for many hours, and it wasn’t until afterwards that we realized that we had quaffed a bottle of Bordeaux, followed by a bottle of ice wine (it was actually made of apple cider) and some snifters of cognac, all firsts for us. We went to bed with warm bellies and classic tunes playing in our heads.
