Day 91: Saint Jean Port Jolie - Riviere du Loup

km today: 100.37
total km: 6125.8

On our way out of our “campground” we checked out the very impressive sculpture garden which, we suppose, really is a must considering St. Jean Port Jolie is the sculpture capital of Canada.

From there it was full speed ahead along “La Route Verte.” The tail wind that squashed us flat last night was at our backs for the whole ride. It was a cyclists dream, though there was a fair bit of road construction. With the wind at our backs we still flew over the gravel sections with barely enough time to read the road signs, all of which were lying on their backs blown over. We certainly pitied the poor people who had chosen to cycle West today.

We’ve been told that the scenery around the Gaspe peninsula is simply breathtaking. The views yesterday were, in our opinion breathtaking, and the views today were better yet. If the best is yet to come, we’re pretty excited.

Ancient fishing contraption.

You will be shocked an amazed to hear that we are actually paying for a campground. We decided it was time to shill out the $20 when we realized that our helmet hair resembled Astroboy’s haircut. We’re pretty disappointed with ourselves for succumbing to societal pressures of cleanliness.
