Day 98: St. Georges du Malbai - Perce

km today: 35
total km: 6744.1

Our first view of Perce (that's its famous perched rock in the background).

Another chilly morning. It seems as though cold is the new norm. It certainly makes it easier to stay hydrated during the day though. We actually have to remind ourselves to drink any water at all.

Along with churches and fromageries, this is a structure that no town is without on the Gaspe Peninsula.

It was a fast and, therefore, glorious ride to Perce. The hills of Perce are pretty steep and stunning, and we actually had the energy today to truly appreciate them, rather than curse them. Too bad the lighting wasn’t better for photos though. There was an unfortunately heavy cloud cover all day. We’re hoping tomorrow will bring us the light we need to even come close to capturing the Rocher Perce (pierced rock).

This one's for the parents.

The view after a 180 degree rotation - the cliffs are getting redder!

The view from the top of that 17% descent.

We still tried to capture the grandeur but, let us tell you, the photo does no justice.

On such an overcast day these guys caught our attention almost as much as the rock.

Arriving so early gave us time to do absolutely nothing. Which was just what our legs wanted us to do. Thanks to our $30 hotel room, we are now fully caught up on the atrocity of Brittany Spears’ comeback.
